Bulldogs defeat Rio Vista, set for Tolar in Area round

The Marlin Bulldogs football team traveled to West High School on Friday to take on the Rio Vista Eagles in the Bi-District round of the playoffs. They handily defeated the Eagles, winning 38-7. 

The Bulldogs started the game on fire and momentum going into halftime, leading 24-7. The Bulldog defense shut out the Rio Vista offense the entire second half to win 38-7. 

Desmond Woodson had a phenomenal game, throwing for 287 yards and three touchdowns, along with rushing for 133 yards and a touchdown. 

Ty’raun Bell also had a great game, rushing for 83 yards. Trajon Butler was incredible, catching seven passes for 102 yards and a touchdown. Zha’mauryon Lofton was unstoppable, catching 12 passes for 182 yards and two touchdowns. 

The defense was an immovable object. Along with allowing just seven points, they had an interception, a fumble, and allowed 144 yards of total offense. 

The next matchup for the Marlin will be at Crowley ISD as they take on the Tolar Rattlers in the Area round of the playoffs, a team they defeated in the regional round last year. The game will be on Thursday and is scheduled to start at 7:30 p.m.
