Bulldogs, Lady Dogs get big wins over Wortham

The Marlin Lady Bulldogs basketball team traveled to take on the Wortham Lady Bulldogs on Friday, Jan. 26. Marlin was dominant over Wortham, obliterating them 93-5. 

Taylor Wright had a great game with 11 points, three rebounds, an assist, and six steals. Keundra Wilson was also terrific with six points, three rebounds, four assists, nine steals, and a block. Aaryha Johnson had a complete game with eight points, three rebounds, three assists, four steals, and a block. 

Kya Mitchell was on fire, scoring 27 points along with recording three assists, and 12 steals. Shawna Robinson was unstoppable, recording 25 points, three rebounds, four assists, and 11 steals. With this victory, Marlin has an overall record of 21-3 and a district record of 10-1. Following that performance was the Bulldogs team against the Wortham Bulldogs.

The boys came out victorious, demolishing Wortham 94-37. 

Aarik Smith-Shelley played a great game with 22 points, five rebounds, two assists and five steals. Jaidan Womack was also terrific with 13 points, two rebounds, two assists, and four steals. Jerry Willis was incredible with 13 points, three rebounds, and two steals. Jacorian Johnson had a great game with 15 points, three rebounds, eight assists, and five steals. 

With this victory, Marlin has an overall record of 12-4 and a perfect district record of 9-0. 

After road games between the Bremond Tigers and Lady Tigers on Tuesday, Marlin will return home to host the Dawson Bulldogs and Lady Bulldogs. Both games will be on Friday, Feb. 2, and the girls game will tip off at 6:15 p.m. and the boys game is scheduled for 7:30 p.m.
