Bulldogs move on after big bi-district win
The Marlin Bulldogs football team defeated the Bosqueville Bulldogs 54-20 in the bi-district round of the playoffs on Nov. 12.
They will move on to face Lindsay this Friday night, Nov. 19, at 7 p.m. in Mansfield at Newsom Stadium.
Marlin started the scoring in the first quarter with a 15-yard pass from Desmond Woodson (7) to Zha’mauryon Lofton (6) for a 6-0 lead after the missed extra point. Bosqueville took the lead 7-6 with a 15-yard rushing touchdown.
Marlin then answered in a big way with a 64-yard passing touchdown from Woodson to Trajon Butler (0) for a 12-6 lead after failing to complete the two point conversion attempt. Marlin continued their dominance in the second quarter with a 3-yard touchdown for an 18-7 lead following another failed two point conversion attempt. Marlin kept up the offense with a 21-yard touchdown pass from Woodson to Lofton for a first half score of 26-7 after a successful two-point conversion.
Bosqueville started the scoring in the second half with an 8-yard touchdown run for a score of 26-13 after another missed extra point. Marlin then scored on special teams with a 60-yard kick return for a touchdown by Lofton to give themselves a 32-13 lead after another failed two point conversion attempt.
Marlin continued to stay explosive with a 60-yard touchdown by Butler off the toss from Woodson to extend their lead to 40-13 after a successful two-point conversion. Marlin started the scoring in the fourth quarter with a 48-yard touchdown run by Butler off the toss from Woodson for a 46-13 lead following another failed two point conversion attempt. Bosqueville would score on a 6-yard touchdown run to make the score 46-20, but it would not be enough as Marlin would get one more touchdown and a successful two point conversion and for a 54-20 lead came away victorious.
Desmond Woodson played incredible, throwing for 375 yards and had 6 touchdowns along with running for 128 yards as well, and Ty Harris (2) could not be stopped as he ran for 158 yards in the game. Zha’mauryon Lofton played well with 60 receiving yards and two touchdowns along with a kickoff return for a touchdown. Trajon Butler was a man on a mission with 245 receiving yards and two touchdowns.
