Marlin declares May 28 as KeKe Wilson Day

The City of Marlin has officially proclaimed May 28, 2025, as “Keundra ‘KeKe’ Wilson Day” in honor of Marlin High School senior Keundra “KeKe” Wilson and her accomplishments in track and field.

Wilson, who will graduate in 2025, won the gold medal in the 100-meter dash at the UIL State Track & Field Championships in Austin on May 2. It marked the second consecutive year she earned the top spot in the event.

In addition to securing the gold medal, Wilson set a new personal best and a new Marlin ISD school record with a time of KeKe’s signature track shoe.

According to the proclamation, Wilson has consistently demonstrated superior skills, commitment and dedication as a premier athlete throughout her school career. The city also recognized her as a beloved and contributing member of the Marlin community.

Mayor Susan R. Byrd issued the proclamation on behalf of the city, the City Council and the broader community, recognizing Wilson’s achievements and celebrating her impact on May 28.
