Whitaker to play at Baylor

Ellington Whitaker signed her National Letter of Intent on Nov. 10 to play softball at Baylor University. Ellington is a senior at Kinkaid High School in Houston where she excels in the classroom as well as on the softball field. She is a standout in the Southwest Preparatory Conference leading the Kinkaid Falcons to a third place finish at state the last three years as well as being named to the All SPC South-Zone softball team 2018-2021. Ellington finished her junior season with a .488 batting average and a 1.000 slugging percentage playing catcher and third base. Ellington is a four time national champion leading her 16U Hotshots National team to win the National PGF Championship in Huntington Beach, California this summer. Glenn Moore, Baylor Softball Coach said, “E is a pure hitter, but also an all-around great athlete. While she is a powerful hitter, she works the count and is a very tough out. She is an intelligent player with tremendous intensity and will not be outworked.” Ellington’s parents, Brady and Sarah, are both Marlin High School graduates and currently reside in Houston. Her grandparents are Sharon Allen Cantrell and the late James R.(Jim) Cantrell, and Mr. and Mrs. Stuart Brown Whitaker, all of Marlin.
