A Regular Meeting of the Marlin City Council was held Tuesday, April 14, 2026, at 6 p.m., Mayor Susan Byrd presiding. Council members present were Scottie Henderson, Terence McDavid, William Roe, Cecil Sparks, and Morris Watson, Jr. Joe Mark Taylor was not in attendance. The minutes from the regular March 10, 2026 Council meeting and March 30th Special Called Council meetings were approved.
The Marlin City Park Commission held a meeting on Thursday, April 9 at the City Council Chambers, where several topics were discussed.
The Falls County Democratic Party held a Candidates Meet & Greet on Saturday at the Lucille William’s Pavilion in Marlin. The candidates that attended and spoke to the gathering included Kenneth Michaels (County Commissioner Pct. 4), Albert Hunter (Texas House of Representatives District 13), LaTonja Mc- Cullough-Taplin (Justice of the Peace Pct. 2) and Sonia Ponce (Marlin ISD School Board - At Large). The public is invited to a “Meet and Greet” event for Marlin ISD School Board candidates on Sunday, April 19, 4:00-6:00 pm. Hosted by Susan Byrd at 800 Southland Avenue-Marlin, the open house and casual attire event will allow the opportunity to learn about potential school board members’ visions, mingle, and share concerns regarding the school board and the upcoming election. This is an unbiased outreach event, and refreshments will be served.
