Homesteaders Abuzz with Excitement At Seed & Plant Swap

The Wharton family hosted a Seed & Plant Swap on Thursday, Feb. 12 at the “Tiny but Mighty Homestead,” welcoming about a dozen adults and many children to trade plants, gardening tips, and camaraderie over a shared lunch. In addition to the free seed and plant swapping, visitors could buy Lyci’s Sweet Treats or Teta’s Homegrown Homemade Pickles & Jams. Bees were drawn to the honey and pickled vegetables, and children played or colored while their parents played icebreaker games and talked about plants and homesteading.

On a whim, I brought it to school the next day. I set it in the staff lounge with a sticky note that said, “Please eat—doctor’s orders (mine).” By lunch, the pan was empty. By the end of the day, coworkers were stopping me in the hallway like, “So... when are you making that cake again?”
